ok: just met with super(visor)adrian, and whilst i drivvled, he suggested something: to be focused! Firstly, i could look at Lynch's films as hypertexts, drawing up boundaries, that will suggest what kind of hypertexts i'm meaning. because some people could argue that all things are hypertext, and they've been around through image etc since the beginning. i could also discuss lynch's films with the progression to 'time-based graphic narratives', in context with hypertext theories, like the reinvention of the graphic novel, and look at flash, animation and film. he suggested i looked at something like: 'hypertext with pictures' - the case of David Lynch. there was that guy - Slavoj Zizek who titled his work 'The lamella of David Lynch', he defines lamella as a Lacanian notion of "the libido as an organ without a body, the incorporeal and for that very reason indestructible life-substance that persists beyond the circuit of generation and corruption." (extract p205, of 'Reading Seminar XI - Lacan's four fundamental concepts of psychoanalysis'). i will, over the next few days, write up the miniest essay, discussing my idea, my hypertext theories, my lynchian theories, then in contrast/comparison to each other, and then my idea on graphic narrative. COOL. blah blah blah. i haven't blogged for ages, my computer is soooooo unreasonable at the moment, and that's a bit bad. anyways, i think i have a beginning. Ulmer says - make connections, so long as that connection works. i can use ulmer theories too! on videography, teletheory! yay! why is that underlined? it's been happening every now and again. mysterious sections are underlined. i wonder if it will publish that way?
